Harry was in real danger and probably didn’t know it.

After Harry returned home, I realized that he was in more danger than neighbor dogs, fast cars and little kids.  Just a block north of our house there is a cliff.  At the bottom is Washington State Road 500.  Starting last year, an overpass was built over the highway, so that St Johns Road could go up and over, eliminating the need for a traffic light and also lessening the accident rate at that intersection.   Harry mentioned going across a narrow ledge and Buster told him it was a long way down.  If Harry had fallen, he might not have been able to climb back up.  There was, at the time, a lot of equipment down there.  He could have landed on something that could injury him seriously, if not fatally.  Since his return home, the overpass has been completed.  There are still sound walls and landscaping being done but the major equipment is gone.

Perhaps it’s fortunate that Harry didn’t totally retrace his steps to get home.  He’s such a klutz; he may not have crossed that narrow ledge safely a second time.
